Lower scores are more favorable. A grayscale score higher than 3.0 indicates that gray shades could be visible with a tint.

ColorChecker scores and saturation scores higher than 3.0 means that the colors shown on screen might appear different when compared to an accurate color reference image.

We tested the more costly OLED variant that comes with the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 but not the IPS model we’re offering and so the color accuracy scores listed here don’t represent the model we recommend that you buy. However, when we tried its Standard Color preset (which is set via the Lenovo Display Optimizer application)

We were awestruck with the OLED display’s accuracy in color which was higher that it’s XPS 15 9500’s color accuracy.

It also completely covers the DCI-P3 color spectrum that can be beneficial in professional video work.

The IPS screen does not have the same brightness as the OLED. The OLED version, and so its blacks won’t be as deep or detailed However, we’d expect the accuracy of color to be comparable between the two screens..

Lenovo’s ThinkPad trackpads and keyboards are generally top-quality as this X1 Extreme is no exception. The keyboard is well-designed with a great layout, and offers a good amount of space between the keys, which , in our testing, felt soft but not stiff and offered a good quantity of movement.

You can choose to leave or keep this red TrackPoint nub and the big single-piece trackpad is compliant with Microsoft’s Precision Touchpad spec, which is a sign that it’s reliable and comfortable to use. It also can support all of Windows 10’s multitouch gestures. It’s not going to change your opinion about trackpads if you prefer using a trackpad, however, it’s great as Windows trackpads can get.

Our tests showed that the X1 Extreme Gen 3 produced less click noise than many trackpads from other laptops we tested like the Dell XPS 15. The X1 Extreme Gen 3 doesn’t include an inbuilt number pad like some laptops with 15 inches and if you’re looking for one, you’ll need another number pad.

It weighs 3.75 pounds, the X1 Extreme Gen 3 is the lightest laptop we’ve tested. It’s approximately three-quarters of one pound smaller than its predecessor, the Dell XPS 15 9500, even though both laptops share approximately the same amount of physical space.

You’ll notice the difference in weight that it is X1 Extreme is when it’s put in a backpack. Its weight isn’t too bad regardless of whether you’re using 13.2-inch notebooks (as myself) that typically weigh around a pound, or so. Check out dell latitude 3490 price online.

If the ability to connect accessories that do not require docks, hubs or dongles is a major aspect in your selection of a laptop, then you’ll love the X1 Extreme Gen3’s array of ports.

It features 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports (which can also accept USB-C-compatible accessories as well as connect external displays) as well as 2 USB 3.0 Type A ports to connect accessories and the HDMI 2.0 port as well as headphone jack as well as a full-size capacity SD card reader.

As with all Windows laptops we’ve test it, this one too X1 Extreme Gen 3 requires an external charger in order for charging at full speed.

It is able to charge using a USB-C adapter however, only at USB-C’s maximum capacity of 100W, that’s less than the 135 W required to ensure it’s charged when the device is in use.

The X1 Extreme’s battery life

is a bit typical for laptops of this type and is less than 7 hours in our tests. The only laptops that lasted more time were those with the XPS 15 9500 and the Surface Book 3, and both are significantly heavier.

The battery will not last long enough to complete a full day of work, particularly if your tasks strain the GPU and processor higher than the battery we tested for our general-use test but it’s still about the same as what you’d get from similar laptops.

What are you looking forward to?

Microsoft has unveiled its Surface Studio Laptop, a successor to the Surface Book priced similarly and to be available by the end of October 2021. Instead of a screen that can be detached it comes with an adjustable hinge that folds in two parts which allows the laptop to be used as a laptop, tablet, or even a hybrid mode, which places the display to an angle that is in front of the larger, haptic driven trackpad. Microsoft also unveiled that it will be selling the Surface Slim Pen, priced at $130. Surface Slim Pen 2, that offers haptic feedback and increased response. The new stylus utilizes its haptics to mimic what’s known as the “drag” of physical implements on paper or other media, such as painting brushes across the canvas or a pencil on paper.

We’ll refresh this guide with the latest impressions when we get them, however in the meantime we do not believe you should purchase the previous Surface Book 3 at this moment, considering the upcoming new, more powerful hardware unless you really need a detachable screen , and you don’t need a Surface as well. Surface Pro.

If you’re unsure about picking the right Windows laptop, you should consider Apple’s latest M1 Pro- and M1 Max-powered MacBook Pros.

Available in both 16 and 14 inch models priced at $2499 and $1999 respectively. These are targeted towards professionals in audio and video as well as engineers and creatives and, based off the results of last year’s initial M1-powered MacBooks, we’re anticipating superior performance and battery life in comparison to similar-equipped PC laptops. We’ll provide more information on them in the near future.
