Muktinath Temple is one of the holiest Hindu temples in Nepal. The temple lies at an elevation of 3 800 meters above sea level and is located near the Thorong La mountain pass, on the border between Nepal and Tibet. The famous Pashupatinath temple lies only about 7 kilometres north of this holy shrine, and It is situated at a distance of 71 kilometres from Kathmandu city. The temple has a beautiful landscape. The architecture of this shrine is exquisite. Malla Kings built it during the 6th century A.D. It is constructed in the form of Hindu temple-style architecture. This shrine remains closed during winters between November to April due to snowfall here. Route Of Muktinath Temple By Road:

The journey starts from Kathmandu through Pokhara via a jeep from Kathmandu to Pokhara (206 km),following the Prithvi Highway to Jomsom via Beni, Tatopani, Ghasa, and Marpha and finally reaching Muktinath Temple. and it takes around 7 hours to cover the distance. After a 7 hours-long journey, the first halt is at Pokhara, where you can stay overnight. Here you will find different hotels, malls, restaurants, and top-notch facilities. Starting from Kathmandu, the journey to the Muktinath Temple is filled with both natural and cultural attractions. On your way to Muktinath, you will find lakes, forests, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, terraced farming land, and many more. Mythology Behind Muktinath Temple:

In Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu was cursed by a beautiful lady, Brinda. As a curse, He was converted into a Shaligram and fell into a pond. It is said that the place where the Shaligram arrived first is this sacred place; in another story, Lord Vishnu killed the demon King Bali to protect Prahlada, evaded the demon by taking the form of a bee, and got divine powers to perform his duty before killing the demons who tortured Prahalada. This tale inspires people daily, and Hindu devotees come to this temple for peaceful and pilgrim journeys in their lifetime. The present structure of the temple was built during the Malla period. The most attractive thing about the temple is the most sacred Yoni-Shaped MuktiKantha (Crystal Cave) located above the temple. The Muktinath Temple is an intricate Hindi symbol that preaches love after fighting evil. The Muktikshetra tale is the best example of this.
